New Year, New You!
We have arrived on a New Year, and a new chance to fulfill the hopes and dreams you have decided to set before yourself. It is official, and 2010 is over, and it’s time to evaluate what you achieved in 2010, and what new goals you want to set for 2011. Do not get down if some goals from the previous year were not achieved as this can happen. Embrace it and use that as motivation for achieving your goals for this year! When you are setting your goals, try to make sure you can take steps towards these goals and that these goals are achievable within one year. If you have a long-term goal, set mini goals that will be achieved each year and set steps to achieve those goals. A new year can mean a fresh start for people and you need to remind yourself of that. We’ve listed one of the most popular new year’s resolutions and some steps in making it happen!
Goal: Lose X Pounds
Step One is to find a friend that shares a similar goal. Motivation is huge and if you have a friend to keep you motivated towards your goals, you are more likely to stay the course.
Step Two is to join a gym or buy equipment. Depending on your current environment, you may choose to buy equipment or buy a gym membership. Both have their benefits, but a gym can offer an environment of people working towards a goal similar to yours. With this it can help keep you motivated towards your goal(s) as well as make plenty of new friends.
Step three is optional, but you can make a small bet. Everyone loves the motivation that is driven by a challenge, and we all love competition. The prize may be a day at the spa, paying the others dues for a month or two, or pure cash. Whatever it is, it should be reasonable but also enough to motivate all parties to win.
There may be other steps to this equation especially in regards to eating better, but these three will have you on the right track!
Whatever your goal is, just remember to stay focused on your goals and taking the proper steps to achieve those goals.
*Before beginning any exercise regimen it is always best to consult with a licensed physician
